'I guess I'm a cat person now': One unexpected workday rescue transformed a lifelong dog person into a devoted cat pawrent

An ordinary work shift took an unexpected turn thanks to one small, lost kitten.

Some mornings start like any other, until a small sound changes everything. While opening up at work, this person heard a faint mewing that led them to a tiny kitten tucked behind a trash can. How she got there was a mystery, but leaving her wasn't an option.

She spent the day inside the store, wrapped in a blanket a kind customer offered. She slept through most of the shift like she finally felt safe enough to rest. There was no big plan at that point. Just a tired kitten, a long day, and the sense that she needed somewhere to land. Taking her home felt like the right next step, even without knowing what would come after.

That first night was quiet and cautious. She kept her distance, unsure of everything. By morning, though, the decision was made for good. She followed her new human down the hall, climbed onto their chest, and fell asleep without hesitation. That was it. The kind of moment that flips a switch you didn't know was there.

Three years later, the transformation is complete on both sides. A lifelong dog person became a full-fledged cat person, and the kitten became a constant presence. She claims laps, blankets, and anything else within reach, always choosing to be close. Sometimes all it takes is one small cat showing up at the right moment to change everything.

Everyone’s a cat person, even if they don’t know it yet. Sometimes it just takes the right cat showing up at the right moment to prove it. You don’t choose when it happens, and you definitely don’t plan for it, but once it does, there’s no going back. One small, determined kitten is all it takes to change someone’s mind forever.
